Reverend William “Ricky” Burton serves as the Pastor of Children and Teens at the Christian Unity Baptist Church, of Waldorf, Maryland. Rev. Ricky began his walk with Christ at a very young age, even acknowledging God’s anointing on his life by delivering a sermon at the age of ten. Continuing in the faith that grounded him as a youth, he was licensed to preach the Gospel in December of 2013 and ordained into the Gospel ministry in April 2016.

Founder of the U.N.I.T.E.D Youth Ministry, Pastor Burton, strives to nurture, educate, develop, and draw more youth to Christ at Christian Unity. He is responsible for all aspects of supervision, organization, and accountability, as it pertains to the ministering to those ages 4 to 30. As manager of the Youth Programs of The Unity Corporation (a Non-profit Community Development Corporation that is geared towards the preservation of the history and legacy left by previous generations, along with the equipping and empowering the youth of today’s generation), Rev. Ricky engages youth, young adult, and college ministry in all aspects of CUBC. He currently serves as the organizer for “Boy to Men” and partners with other boys mentoring groups in order to teach practical skills to budding boys.

Pastor Burton’s passion for youth ministry extends to the Washington D.C. metropolitan area where he conceptualized and implemented the community program Church N’.  Church N’ is a youth organized and run production that mimics the popular MTV show Wild N’ Out with a Christian twist. This program uses unique methodology to teach Biblical knowledge and gives youth the opportunity to showcase that knowledge through games and challenges in a live game show production. Youth from around the community learn production skills and techniques such as Microsoft office, audio/visual management, video editing, public speaking, and marketing.

An avid learner, Rev. Ricky graduated from Elizabeth City State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Science and a Minor in Computer Networking. He is currently pursuing a Master of Divinity degree at the Samuel Dewitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University.

Pastor Burton strives to teach the saved and unsaved how to live abundant lives through the Word of God with relevance, simplicity, and a dash of humor. His unique experiences have allowed him to approach the word of God with a refreshing view, while using the critical thinking and problem solving skills learned in the studies of Computer Science to ask hard questions and dig for deep answers.

Rev. Burton is married to the beautiful Charnece Williams-Burton and is also a proud member of Omega Psi Phi fraternity Inc.
